I was raised in the echoing walls of a small church that was really a big living room that had been transformed in order for us to congregate. Many sermons felt like a story that was waiting to be told. When I look back I believe my faith became the fertile ground from which my writing would first sprout from.
Growing up in a tight-knit community in Spanish town Jamaica, was short lived. As I had to immigrate to Canada at the age of 5. This was where Sunday services were as routine as family dinners. Overtime I found the stories shared among the congregation to be something that comfort me in my grown up life. My parents, both active in the church, instilled in me a love for the word of God that intertwined faith and creativity. As I got older exploring the world alongside the books and Sunday school lessons. I discovered that every life experience, whether it was joyful or challenging. They would hold the potential for the powerful narrative that I can now share. This foundation not only shaped my beliefs but also ignited my passion for wanting to be a writer. It is what drives me to share the complexities of my faith and to show forth the humanity in my work.

My interest includes social justice advocacy. Often reflecting on my commitment to making a difference. In the areas of sustainable living, i have a passion for eco-friendly practices. Such as supporting local businesses, the church, art work and music.
I like to be in touch with technology and innovation such as engaging with emerging technologies. The development of AI is something we should all give our attention.
I would like to get back to more travelling and cultural exploration to share more experiences from my travels. Travelling does influence my writing and broaden perspectives by viewing different cultures.
I am encouraged to do mindful and wellness checks as I’m getting older. Following mental health practices such as meditation that promote well-being and personal growth. I have a love for reading across genres and attending different places that foster discussions on literature to see how it applies in today’s society.
What makes my style unique has a lot to do with how I am able to blend genres or explore lesser-known aspects of the human experience through faith.
My life’s experience emphasizes the information that I am writing about. It allows me to create a distinct voice that will hopefully resonate with my readers.
I believe my writing style is distinctively, raw, and experimental, which sets it apart from others in their genre.
My cultural influences stems from seeing many children being raised by their grandparents. Up until the tender age of 5, i was raised by my grandmother and father. It was very rare to see both parents raising their own children. My grandparents instilled all the good moral values before I went to live with my mother in Canada. This is where my cultural background or upbringing helped to shape my customs, traditions, language, religion and economic values here.
Something very impactful to me from when I look at the life of Christ. The way he lived his life brings about a powerful messages for how we should project ourselves. Just the thought of how he had so much power at his disposal and he never tried to abuse it. I look at people and wonder what power are they feeling that many have to be exercising themselves on others the way it is being done at times. As challenging as times get, I will endeavor to stay as normal as I can be in order to inspire the change that we need.
I also endeavor to incorporate the elements from my upbringing, alongside other areas of fundamental nature which regards knowledge, reality, and our existence.
I would say that the greater part of my life I was interactive or immersive with the elements of the world. I had to grow up on my own at the age of 16 with community involvement that help to enhance my greater world view. To say the least, I have seen a lot and thank God i was able to survive all of my challenges so far. At the age of 16 was where the point in my life, there became only 2 options presented to me. I was either going to have to let my father continue with raising me, in Jamaica. Otherwise, go on my own and struggle to survive, in a little more familiar place to me at that time, which had more opportunities here for me.
Without a doubt, I am a firm believer that stories have the power to bring us all together. I stated out growing up in a small town, and then a small church became my second home.
Looking back, I realize how much my childhood in the church shaped my worldview for the better. The time that I spend now is with quiet moments of reflection and it has inspired me to explore the deeper questions in life through my reading and writing.
Even though I was raised on a strict diet of sermons and Sunday school lessons. I kind of preferred growing up with the never-ending studies of this world that we live in. Is what allowed me to still find myself chuckling at the many different characters that I run into on a daily basis. I believe each person was made for each and every other person to service each other with some of the unforgettable moments in life.
Growing up in church might sound a lot like conforming to customs or beliefs. However, it fueled somewhat of a rebellious spirit. I had to know if there was more to life and this kind of living in Canada. I learned how to question things more, to dig deeper, and to find the extraordinary in the ordinary. That is the kind of fire that drives my writing today.
My expertise includes Tool and die making. This can be hard to explain but it involves making machines that can make various parts in the automotive industry. I have gained the knowledge of making tools and machinery part. Assembling metal forms called dies in a manner to achieve a device that holds metals to produce a desired component.
I attended Sheridan College where I received my certificate for Tool and Die.
Not too long after that I went to Algonquin College where I was able to earn my paralegal license. I pride myself in being an upstanding law abiding citizen.
Currently I am specializing in the area that focuses on making 3D type printing into steel blocks. I have been broadening my horizon or skill set in the area in which I received my first licenses. You see, after receiving my Tool and Die licenses, it has taken on a new form for me. In the end of the year of 2014 I started to move into the futuristic side of a machinist. I currently hold the job title as CNC operator. A computer numerical control operator does metalworking using CNC machines to produce machine parts. As a CNC operator I employ computer programming skills to sculpt and finish components in the Tool and Die trade. Much of my computer related skill was improved because I chose to learn CNC.
Growing up, when I was in my teens I can recall being awarded the Toronto Star sales leader. I believe having received that award has something to do with the kind of dedication I still currently possess.
Shortly after taking on the role of CNC operator, I took night classes at Saint Gabriel Adult Education Centre Night School, to get my skills up in learning the keyboard. I learned how to touch-type in order to increase my speed and efficiency on the keyboard. Which continues to help me in my career now.
I didn’t know how much it would help me out now which influences my writing or possible career direction I am on now.
I am still very much involved with attending my church to enhance myself in relevant literary discussing as well as to hear a word from the Lord.
I would have to say my oldest brother Kevin has been a key figure who was a high school teacher, became an Elder in the church and is now a principal at a high school. He has been someone that helps me in shaping my career trajectory.
I had to deal with being faced with significant hardships, such as the loss of my biological father, and the Grandmother i saw as my mom the first 5 years of my life. My personal struggles of learning how to navigate on my own as a teenager wasn’t a smooth path either. I was someone that knew what was good and then I had to apply that in this enormous world.
The experiences tied to my cultural heritage and the information I learned from my view of the world taught me two things. One of which is that if you do good, good will usually come back to you. Also how to navigate better in this life to effectively developed this writing style.
I have had encounters with different environments through my travels that inspires me with the settings, characters, and plots in my reading and writing.
My spiritual teachers from church, and lawyers and judges when I became a Paralegal. They all provided many insights and expertise relevant to the topic that I have chosen to write about.
I enjoy the influences from other books, authors and their literary movements which may have inspired my writing journey.
I don’t feel that I have many creative pursuits to engage myself in other than music. I enjoy song about love, the kind of music that enriches you with their storytelling abilities.
I am a married father of 5 wonderful children. When I started writing it was for them and myself. My family helped to push this development and emotional depth in my work.
I believe I had a moment of epiphany which specifically brought to my realizations of how to listen better for the revelations which comes from the Lord. Growing up on my own led me to realize something significant and shifted me in my writing perspective or approach.
I invite all my readers to connect with me through the media or website. I am looking forward to having events in the very near future.
